At age ten, a friend invited Philip to join a children's theater workshop at the Emma Parrish Theatre in Titusville, Florida. Six months later the friend dropped out, but Philip stayed on until he graduated high school. While other kids took field trips to see plays, he would be excused from school to perform them.
He found himself playing lead roles like Mr. Toad in The Wind in the Willows and eventually graduated to the theater's regular adult repertory. His first performance there was as a Newsboy in Gypsy. He would go on to play the Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors and Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, among others.
And so, upon graduation, he enrolled in Flagler College as a Graphic Design major.
When he landed the young lead in Strindberg's Ghost Sonata in his first semester, he changed his major to Drama and Communication. Roles at Flagler include Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Seymour in Little Shop (see above), and the Swiss captain in Shaw's Arms and the Man.
After college he worked as a video producer for cable television writing scripts, directing, shooting and editing local and regional ads. During this time he co-wrote and directed his 30-minute DV short Straight Sleeper.

His first post-collegiate theater work included directing The Odd Couple and Bell, Book, and Candle. Roles at the Limelight include Treves in The Elephant Man, Ira in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and Picasso in Picasso at the Lapin Agile.
Bored with sunshine, Philip relocated to New York. His city debut was Becket (as Cardinal Zambelli), directed by Tim Errickson for the Boomerang Theatre Company.
He has since appeared in over a dozen independent theater productions. In 2005 he was nominated for the New York Innovative Theater Awards' Oustanding Actor in a Featured Role for his part as "Earth" in Kelly McAllister's Burning the Old Man for the Boomerang. He also appeared in Brian Chirls' recent film 15 Waffles, performed in numerous readings and workshop stagings. For his full acting résumé, click here.
With NY directing credits under his belt and a growing portfolio of theater publicity design, Philip Emeott's multifaceted career is one to watch.
